Moar Drakes and.. almost.. Drakes

Posted by Nasi On Tuesday, August 24, 2010 Barthilas, Pirates, Unreal Realities, WoW

So whenever I edit videos it take me much, much longer than I actually anticipate, which is why this is so late and my girlfriend is mad at me. This has also left it very late and me very tired, so unfortunately this is going to be a super quick wrap up whilst my video is rendering and uploading to youtube.

Firstly the video is all about finishing up last week when we knocked over the last few achievements for Rukiar to get his mount. One wipe on Sindy before cleaning that up and going onto Blood Queen, who we were lucky to kill and also lucky to survive Naz’s vent rage, which we only heard because of a Ramp push-to-talk issue. Good for a laugh. Unfortunately Naz is actually a focused raider so I don;t actually catch a great deal of her on vent. Mind you it is hard to squeeze in a word edge wise with Hammy. More Drakes

Posted by Nasi On Tuesday, August 17, 2010 Barthilas, Pirates, Unreal Realities, WoW

Well the plan this week was to go back in to ICC10 for Rukiar, Rumbrb and Funky’s Drake’s, but we were thwarted by bad weather, with a surge frying Rumbrb’s modem and killing his Drake dream. We did manage to secure Rukiar and Defunked their mounts though, so grats to them!

Edit: and of course there is Naz! She was the first of the those left to get her drake! Sorry I forgot ya!!

Here is the first half of the video. Yes, only one half. Because there is over 120 minutes of video that I need to sift through and I have no doubt that I have missed more than one thing, leading me to believe that I may need to delay these by a week so that I can actually go through it all properly.

A Date With Drakes

Posted by Nasi On Tuesday, August 10, 2010 Barthilas, Pirates, Unreal Realities, WoW

This Monday, a day behind Lemmings, the Pirates got their Reins of the Bloodbathed Frostbrood Vanquisher. It feels pretty good, I must admit. It’s almost the reward for a Wrath 10man raider. The Kingslayer title is awesome, but people are selling that and even giving it away for nothing at the moment. Bane of the Lich King is something we’ll get soon and does set you apart, but that’s for defeating one raid boss. The Reins of the Bloodbathed Frostbrood Vanquisher is a culmination of all of your efforts to that point. And it’s really big. And looks really cool. And I am going to be flying over Azeroth on it in a few months time. Read the rest of this entry »

“If We Kill Him This Attempt…”

Posted by Nasi On Tuesday, August 3, 2010 Barthilas, Pirates, Unreal Realities, WoW

So I finally got a chance to bring my Shaman to a (questionably) quality and organized raid will Pirates having ourselves a bit of a break, taking on ICC completely as alts or offspecs (except Ghost, tsk tsk). To be honest it was a needed break after finally getting our Sindragosa HM achievement and it went quite swimmingly. We got through eight of twelve, falling over a bit on Dreamwalker, leaving ourselves Valithria, Sindragosa, Professor Putricide and The Lich King hardmodes for Monday night. I think that the best thing to come from this was the questions and the surprise that we got (and heard) as we progressed through the fights. Some good examples were:

  • Vok, our regular Shaman healer and Funky, our Shadow Priest, took on the tanking role, resulting in many people face down after pulling aggro. If you mark a skull, you need to hit it boys!
  • Me, normally tanking, deciding I still wanted to tank which resulted in being face down a lot. 11 times in fact. The highest in the raid by nearly double.
  • Nazaniel, normally healing, deciding that our Tree healer needed to be the first person she bit on Blood Queen Lana’thel. Naz also had her chance to finally get her revenge by finishing her cast while standing in Fire and pulling AoE threat. You go gurl!
  • Rethel, also a healer, putting us all to shame with his ridiculously high Dps even though he swapped in a Librarian’s Paper Cutter for his offhand, being fresh to 80 and just gearing up.

It was a good night, I think it was a much needed break and…

F*cking Terrible

Posted by Vok On Sunday, August 1, 2010 Barthilas, Shaman

I’ve been playing a Horde Shaman today and am in the process of doing the quest to get my water totem. It is, bar none, the worst quest I have ever seen in any game ever. At level 20 I’ve had to travel half the world map – twice! – to get it done. I cannot imagine how horrible this was when mounts were available at level 40 instead of 20. I’m surprised there are any Horde shaman at all past level 20.

Worst. Quest. Ever.

In other news, Nasi threw up the Fraps of our Sindy Heroic kill. The first five minutes is painfully boring and the lack of chat on vent shows how frustrated we were. Rukiar takes control in Phase three and guides us home while Ghost was dead for nearly all of Phase Three. WARNING: Naughty words are used.

That is how far through the ICC Hardmodes Pirates are now, after getting our Heroic: The Frostwing Halls (10 player). Sindy Hardmode is down and behind us, which is just fantastic. I do have the FRAPS and will be posting it on Friday, if I can figure out how to compress the video files down from the 4gig they are currently at.Two more to go.

Our first attempt through the door had everyone in high spirits because we managed to get her down to 16%. This isn’t going to take long! Only a couple more attempts! Sure enough we didn’t kill her until about two and a half hours later. To be honest there isn’t much to say that the FRAPs won’t tell you. Mid way through our attempts there was a long.. very long.. discussion amongst the healers, well Rethel mostly listened but I assume that if he disagreed with the direction of the conversation he would have interjected. We tried things differently for a few attempts, and then it just happened.

Iceblocked

Posted by Nasi On Tuesday, July 20, 2010 Barthilas, Pirates, Unreal Realities, WoW

So we meet again. This weeks raiding felt pretty slow, like we had be Frost Shocked or Frost Trapped. Sunday night we wandered on into ICC once again to tackle the beast. Sunday nights we pretty much just try and set ourselves up for Monday night, meaning that we try to get as far as possible on the heroic bosses that we have killed so far before calling it a night, making sure that Valithria is down so that Monday can be spent tackling Sindy. This Sunday Vok took the night off ill (or too watch Hawke) and Naz took charge of the group with Dimbelle stepping up to heal. As always when the cats’ away the mice will play and we took a fairly leisurely wander through the first three, before stalling for a short while on Saurfang again.

Share the Love

Once again I have been naughty and not put my post up in time, sorry Vok! The Pirates had an average week (at best) this week. We went back to the Ruby Sanctum to storm through it and get Defunked his achievement. WRONG! We cleared the trash and mini-bosses quick enough but were having some trouble Halion, especially during the second phase. Fair enough, it’s not accurate to say that a boss is on farm after downing him once but we were still on him until nine o’clock, which is about an hour longer than I thought (hoped?) we’d take. Moving into ICC10 we were looking good, one shotting bosses left, right and centre until Saurfang who we wiped on for the rest of the night. Admittedly we made it difficult on ourselves by having three melee but being a group that prides itself on “bringing the player, not the class”, it was disappointing to not get it down.

Sunday night we turned the tables with four ranged on Saurfang with us Read the rest of this entry »

My life as a Druid pt1.

Druid Forms

Ever since the opening of Barthilas, I’ve played my character, Tigoni. having previously played the other 8 classes on Bonechewer, I found the Druid to be my absolute favourite class. Having raided as all four prominent specs, I’ll do a 4part series into what its like to play as those specs now and how I feel the upcoming changes may affect the style of play. While I’m no expert, I’m sure 5 years means something… right?
